Today at my Feet

Today I treated myself to some new shoesies! I'm so excited to have finally got round to buying them - I have been in desperate need of new converse for a while now, my others are too grubby for words. Because converse are probably the most popular trainer of all time (but too comfy to trade) I fancied something a little different. The Comme Des Garcons PLAY diffusion, which are part of the Jack Purcell range are perfect don't you think? After a little research earlier, I discovered that Jack Purcell was a famous Canadian badminton player in the 1920s and 30s - he actually designed these sneakers way back then (which converse then bought the rights to). I really love the thought that I am going to be enjoying the same shoes as people did nearly 80 years ago - although I bet none of them styled them with skinny jeans!

SALE!

That's right, I was one of the 4 million idiots who decided to go shopping on Boxing Day today! For those of you who were sensible and stayed in, you definitely made the right choice - it was MENTAL out there!

Here are a couple of pics of what I bought;
1. Plain white shirt and navy / black glitter cardi from Cos
2. Some MAC - a new lipstick and some bronzer (I'm currently the colour of a snowman so this was an essential)
3. And my lil dog trying to steal the show when I was taking pictures earlier. Cheeky!

IT'S CHRISTMAS!

Merry Xmas! It's such a wonderful time - family, plenty of food, parties and some lovely prezzies too :) Wishing everyone happy holidays!

An Illustrated Affair

Bag packed with my essentials (iPad, Benefit lip gloss, sparkly nail varnish and Stylist magazine) last night I made the four hour train journey home for CHRISTMAS!!! 

It is so exciting to be home again. What is also exciting is this week's issue of Stylist. For a free publication it is impressively good, and week by week consistently creates something beautiful, whether it be a story, fashion shoot or beauty edit. This weeks Christmas issue contains no photos - instead the editor has commissioned thirteen illustrators to draw everything, from the cover page right down to the fashion stories, celebrity interviews and travel reviews. In an age consumed by digital media, it is so refreshing to enjoy some hand crafted artwork, and it is for this reason I have decided to share it with you all. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

The End of an Era

The final installment of Gossip Girl has aired. Everyone's guilty pleasure, I can for one say I will miss the glamour, bitchiness, drama, betrayal and of course the fashion in every episode. 

Even though Serena and Blair have been laid to rest for the moment, I'm sure it won't be the last we see of Blake Lively or Leighton Meester. Blake's credibility in the fashion world is rising by the day, and although Leighton has been a little quieter, recent reviews of the comedy 'The Oranges' could hint otherwise for the future. 

For now however, I'm sad to say it is XOXO from Gossip Girl.

It's a Kenzo Celebration!

Finally this term is complete! It is such a relief to have handed all my work in. Now all that is left is the nerve racking few weeks to wait for my results. In the meantime, I will be celebrating A LOT over the Xmas break! Who's with me?!
I would also like to take a few moments to celebrate the wonderfulness that is the Kenzo sweater. So versatile and easy to style up or down, it has been everywhere this season. Quite frankly, I think it is pretty great. Let's drink to Kenzo, completed coursework and of course the Christmas holidays!

Into the D a r k n e ssss

Since my last post I have been living in darkness. 15 hour study sessions at the library this week have seen me leave the house under a dreary winter morning haze and return through a cloud of icy fog. As I was waking home tonight I couldn't help but think of the Givenchy Fall 2012 show - not because it reminded me of doom and gloom, perhaps quite the opposite. I remember thinking the first time I watched it that it seemed almost invincible, and right now that is exactly the sort of inspiration I need to make it to deadline day on Friday!

Bring It Blondey

For the past month and a half I have been writing, researching, reading, writing, reading some more and sitting at the computer until my eyes have literally turned into squares, all in the name of my dissertation. Everyone says that final year of uni is a bitch, and trust me, I can add to that long list of people. My social life has been minimised to take-away Chinese food in my living room, and one glass of wine a week if I'm lucky. And my laptop is never further than an arms reach away. Oh how I am counting down the days, hours, minutes, seconds until my work is handed in and it is Christmas break! On the plus side of all this misery, I have come across some pretty cool stuff whilst researching including some great pictures of street style. Here are a few of my faves, dedicated to all of the wonderful blonde haired ladies out there. Enjoy!
